Outer Hebrides - Page d'accueil

An attractive island with a beautiful beach and impressive cliffs, among the highest in Britain, rising to 213m (699ft). It has superb seabird colonies with large numbers of guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes and puffins.

Mingulay was home to over a hundred people during the 1800s. Isolation and lack of a good harbour took their toll and the island was finally abandoned in 1912. The ruined houses can still be seen.

Access by Barra Fishing Charters from Castlebay.
