Loch of the Lowes Wildlife Reserve (SWT)

Nr. Dunkeld

One of Scotland’s most popular nature reserves. Loch of the Lowes is well-known for its pair of breeding ospreys. They are present from late April to late August and can be watched at their tree top nest from a nearby observation hide. Live action from the nest can also be seen on a monitor in the visitor centre. The shallow, fertile loch is good for wildfowl. Great-crested grebe, little grebe and goosander all breed here. In winter large numbers of greylag geese roost on the loch. Otters are often seen. Roe and fellow deer are regularly seen from the hide, while both red squirrels and grey squirrels are present in the surrounding woodland. Visitor centre and observation hide.
