This charming property is representative of the small country houses and estates which pattern the banks of the Clyde and were developed as a result of the fortunes made in the City of Glasgow from tobacco and industrial development. The House (not open to the public) is thought to date from the late 17th century.

The garden retains a sense of private space into which the visitor is invited. The many attractive features include a fruit and vegetable garden with central 'dipping pond'; a walled garden with traditional glasshouses and a burn which winds through the wooded glen.
