Summerlee Heritage Park is based on the site of the former Summerlee Ironworks in Coatbridge. It's 22 acres provide everything for a great day out for all ages and interests. The main exhibition hall has displays of working machinery and 19th century life. Outside is Scotland's only working electric tramway with trams from the local area, Glasgow and Europe (modest fare applies). The tramway runs for a half-kilometre up to the Miners' Row and mine site which shows the tough conditions in which miners and their families lived and worked.
Summerlee also has a tea-room, exhibition gallery and shop. School groups welcome.
